Silk Painting
There are three basic techniques for painting on silk and they are not as difficult as you might think.
Gutta Serti is similar to rubber cement, applied with a nozzle tipped squeeze bottle around the area you want to paint. It prevents the paint from bleeding or spreading. After the paint has dried you can remove the gutta by dry cleaning.
If you don’t want the outlined look of gutta, Antifusant or Stop Flow Primer is painted on the silk before your design to stop bleeding or spreading. The Antifusant can be rinsed out of the silk once th paint has dried.
The Watercolour technique enables the silk paint to bleed and blend together to give you various effects. Our Step-bu-Step shows you a very simple but effective watercolour technique.
